Which Mountain? The answer is all of them! There are 6 ski (or snowboard) areas in the Queenstown region to choose from; Cardrona, Coronet Peak, The Remarkables, Snow Farm, Snow Park and Treble Cone.
Each mountain has very different terrain, all of them have fantastic skiing or riding and they each have their own unique atmosphere or "personality". Whether it's terrain parks, family friendly facilities, wide open runs or steep terrain you're looking for, one if not all of these resorts will deliver. You can't go wrong. Just ask the staff at Kiwi Discovery, they are passionate about skiing and riding and love passing on their local knowledge about the best runs and where to go.
Although Coronet Peak and The Remarkables are the closest, providing you have the time, we recommend you try at least one (or all) of the other ski fields!

When to go?
The ski season starts in June and goes right through to the start of October, however the main reason they close is lack of visitors NOT the lack of snow. Many mountains have the capability to make their own snow too, providing great fresh powder to ensure we have snow right through the winter. Australian School holidays in July tend to be busy if you are able to avoid them.

What will I need?
Apart from some equipment and some warm clothes; you will need a lift pass to access each mountain and some sort of transport to get there. Lessons are always a great idea for beginners or if you are a little rusty. Kiwi Discovery can't arrange flights or accommodation but we can help with everything else for your hassle free holiday, and as Queenstown is really easy to walk round (and expensive to park in) - we can pick you up at the airport and take you to the ski fields, so you won't need a car.
Check list:-
- Skis, Boots and Poles OR Snowboard and Boots
- Lift Pass
- Lessons (recommended)
- Jacket and Pants
- Gloves
- Thermals
- Goggles or Sunglasses
- Helmet or Warm hat (beanie)
- Transport (bus or rental car)
- Accommodation
Where do I stay?
New Zealand is different to many other ski resorts round the world, Queenstown does not provide the full "ski in - ski out' option. The majority of people stay in Queenstown (or Wanaka) and either take their rental car or the Kiwi Discovery Ski Link bus right to the snow. If you are not used to driving in snowy conditions or fitting snow chains, then the SkiLink bus option is definately recommended and pick ups are from over 25 locations in Queenstown.
